FDR Quiet Weekend At White House

President Franklin D Roosevelt spends a quiet weekend at the White House with no appointments. He works from his study using the phone and pen to direct state business including the Robin Moor matter and defense measures while Mrs Roosevelt travels in New England. He briefs Harry Hopkins and Maj. Gen. James H Byers on lend-lease matters and receives a brief, peaceful respite with a stroll planned at Burning Tree Golf Course later in the day.

West Va Exhibit Held Over Presidential Staff

White House staff disappearances spark a security round in 1933 style. Col Bill Starling leads guards at the ball park and country clubs while secretaries visit shops and pools. Dr. McIntire tended Missy Lehand for a two day cold as Roosevelt’s aides protect the president who works, naps, swims, and resumes duties. Dinner for two is served to Roosevelt and Hopkins upstairs.
