Jacobs Sets Open Record With 64 At Congressional
Tommy Jacobs fired a 64 in the second round of the National Open at Congressional Country Club, tying the record low for the Open. Palmer and Gary Player were briefly in contention as Jacobs credited advice from Tom Brandao and his own steady swing work for the performance. Jacobs said he did not realize he could threaten the record until Dutch Harrison mentioned it, and Harrison noted his earlier misremembering of the record.
