River Tankers Considered To Bring Oil To East Coast
A plan to move oil from Louisiana to the upper Ohio river by a vast fleet of towboats and barges is under study to ease fuel shortages on the Atlantic coast. River carriers would survey floating equipment and, if materials allow, expand yards to build tank barges and towboats for routes from Baton Rouge up the Mississippi and Ohio to Pittsburgh area terminals.
