Puffer to Plead Rate Cause for Local Shippers
Managing Director P. Puffer of the Charleston chamber of commerce travels to Washington to represent local shippers in the eastern rate case before the Interstate Commerce Commission. He aims to curb a proposed rate level that could favor northern over southern parts of the state, stressing that equitable rates would reduce transportation costs for Charleston and the Kanawha valley. Local wholesalers already employ experts to audit freight charges as the case shapes regional freight dynamics.
