Gillespie Held On Drunk And Assault Charges In Washington District
Gilbert Gillespie of Olcott faced a grand jury after a hearing before Magistrate H B Clay for biting Constable Holston and resisting arrest. Holston testified to a fight near the South Wide bridge, with injuries and marks cited along with accounts from witnesses about Gillespie’s sobriety and the alleged attack. Magistrate DeRoard transferred the case to Squire Lee Hager. Attorney Robert A Hays argued, and the magistrate found sufficient evidence for a conviction on the resisting arrest charge.
