Major Segrave Killed While Attempting New Speed Mark
WIDeRMERE England June 13 UP Major Bir Meory Segrave famed British speedboat racer died after a crash attempting a new 4 000 horsepower craft record. He had just completed two runs averaging around 96 miles per hour on a one mile course when the engine failed and the craft toppled. Segrave and a mechanic were hurt. the mechanic died and another crewman later died. Lady Segrave witnessed the tragedy. Police and officials planned a formal inquiry into the accident and the new speed record effort marked Segrave’s final attempt.
