City Budget Under Review By Officials For New Fiscal Year
City department heads are drafting budget estimates starting July 1 with a push to reduce spending and even undercut last year’s allowances. Mayor Wertz aims to keep the tax levy steady, potentially adding a 10 cent bond levy for the Spring Street bridge, preferring bond issuance to a two year tax levy. The finance committee will meet to refine department requests and has authority to cut high estimates as the budget is shaped.
