An agreement with Howard University College of Medicine to supply medical personnel for Denmar Negro tuberculosis sanitarium in Pocahontas County may solve staffing at state hospitals. Howard staff will serve as part time medical advisor, chief surgical consultant, and provide two fellowships funded by West Virginia. The plan, approved by Howard trustees on April 26, could expand to other institutions and covers visiting staff appointments and related administration.

Jury in Clay Won't Indict Two City Cops

Clay County jury failed to indict Charleston officers Patrolman Bob Crouse and Warren Warwick on breaking and entering charges connected to a fishing lodge. Prosecutor James Reed said the grand jury returned no true bills after testimony from one witness and a second officer. The cases stem from accusations by Kanawha City glass worker James McClure that his nephews, also officers, found the lodge broken into. The officers denied bringing anyone along, and they were reassigned after a magistrate hearing.
