Hospital Women's Auxiliary Donates Resuscitator to Charleston Memorial

Charleston Memorial Hospital receives a mechanical resuscitator from its Women's Auxiliary after a January vote to fund about $900 for the device. The air pressure rack aids asphyxiated newborns by providing controlled air, oxygen, heat and humidity, reducing handling and enabling brief or extended use. The device, developed in Houston, marks a significant advance in neonatal care and is expected to save infants in about six percent of live births, particularly preterm cases.
