Mundy Brothers Contest Need for New Cab Firm in Charleston

The Mundy brothers testified before the Public Service Commission that Charleston does not need a new taxi company as Veterans Cab Co. seeks permission to operate. Earl and Roy Mundy own the two largest Charleston fleets, with 41 and 30 cabs respectively, and argued that competition remains between them since their split in 1945. The hearing on fare scales continues, with six of seven witnesses deeming current service inadequate and urging action.
