Dunbar Council Defers Trash Fee Ordinance Increase
Dunbar City Council delayed the first reading of a package raising residential and commercial trash pickup fees citing budget timing. Citizens and business leaders urged reconsideration, with council split as six members attended and two opposed. The residential hike would set a $5.50 quarterly rate and commercial rates would rise to $26 to $30 yearly, while private haulers would charge about $13 annually for one weekly pick up.

Poca Woman's Niece Injured In Derailment
A Union Pacific passenger train derailed near Templeton Iowa injuring 24 passengers. The niece of a Putnam County woman, Mrs Tom Achard of San Francisco, suffered a slight leg injury while her three year old daughter Laurie was uninjured. The train, about 290 passengers, was ten minutes out of Omaha when the incident occurred and officials say a sudden stop to avoid a freight train caused the derailment. Twenty injured were taken to a Carroll hospital and four to Manning. May include other unrelated travelers and family mentions.
