Disney Mineral King suit blocks $35 million resort plan
The Sierra Club sued to halt Walt Disney Productions $35 million Mineral King resort in the High Sierras. In U S District Court in San Francisco, the club named Secretary of the Interior Walter Hickel and Secretary of Agriculture Clifford Hardin as defendants, alleging illegal permitting of the project on 300 acres of national forest land that would host hotels, dining, parking and ski facilities for up to a million visitors yearly. The suit seeks a preliminary and permanent injunction and a court declaration that the development violates federal laws.
