Mothers Loyal to Baseball Help Little Leaguers Win
Sidney Pack of the Western Little League lauds loyal mothers who finance and coordinate fund raising. The Cavalcade of Amusements carnival at the Civic Center, run by Teague and West Side Lions Club, funded six teams and funded next year’s season. Mothers organized, recruited volunteers, and managed ticket sales, earning enough to cover season expenses and a nest egg for next year. Local firms donated tickets to aid Union Mission Children's Home. The mothers plan a charity game with women and boys swapping roles, with proceeds aiding the league memory and minor league upkeep exceeding $800 annually.
