Nazi Air Power Plans Expansion in Near East Campaign
The report details a surge to 6,000 planes monthly using conquered country facilities, with over half of a massive wartime budget earmarked for the air force. It notes Boston-like efforts to boost armored divisions, coastal defense balloons, and vast defense plant construction, including training and demonstrations of blitzkrieg tactics. Barrani, Tobruk, and Alexandria are cited as targets, while British sources claim casualties and that no German troops are in Syria. The Dienst Aus Deutschland cites rising tensions and Irish protests over Dublin bombing. Overnight raids on Birmingham and Chatham are reported in the west.

Army officers said older recruits struggle to blend with younger soldiers and lack agility, citing drills like drop the handkerchief where older men are outpaced. About 100 men form a circle and the second man chases, typically leaving older participants winded. Texas school districts are declining by about 200 per year.
