Flu Leukemia Link Raises Hope for Cure
The Charleston Gazette reports a study linking maternal influenza exposure during pregnancy to higher leukemia risk in children. The National Child Development Study found leukemia and related cancers in 13 of 20 child cancer deaths among 17,418 Britain births, with over half of leukemia cases in children whose mothers had influenza during pregnancy. The research suggests external factors contribute to cancer risk and may guide prevention.
