Fort Lee Replica To Be Constructed This Year
The Kanawha County Court authorized $3000 to begin a Fort Lee replica at Fourfair grounds with about 80 dormitory buildings planned, 10 to be erected this year, to house Four H club members during camp. McGowran says NYA labor will be used and $1000 may come from the Kanawha State Park association. Fort Lee originally stood on the Kanawha river near Brooks street and will be modeled after the stockade cabins, to be used for pioneer displays and possibly a museum in the future.
