UCLA Doctor Sees Darvon N as Possible Heroin Aid
Dr. Forrest S. Tennant Jr. of UCLA reports the synthetic drug propoxphene napsylate also known as Darvon N may help treat heroin addiction. Unlike methadone it is claimed to be less addictive and less likely to cause male impotence though mild sedation and speech slurring occur. About 200 addicts have used Darvon N for four months and long term effects remain uncertain.
