Municipal Greenhouse Talk Slated by City Committee

A three member committee of the Heath Municipal Beautification Commission plans to meet with Mayor Shanklin to discuss a city owned greenhouse. The move follows a suggestion from Commissioner Sherwood Spencer at the MBC monthly meeting after debate over geraniums on the Lee Street island near Hale Street. The May decision to replace the island’s permanent cover with temporary flowers spurred interest in citywide projects and a greenhouse to fund such efforts, ideally at the North Charleston sewage treatment plant. Spencer and councilwomen Dorothy Heinzer and Mary Jane Vanderwilt were named to the discussion committee.
