Incumbents pursued nonpartisan and party tickets as voters backed incumbents and new faces across multiple towns.
In whitesville and other towns, incumbents were reelected across parties. Progressive Citizens swept Whitesville mayor and council seats. Gassaway, Barboursville, West Hamlin, Worthington, Davis, Hambleton, Hendricks, Paw Paw, and Berkeley Springs saw re-elected mayors, recorders, and several council members under various party tickets or unopposed slates.

Gibson reelected 341 to 55 over John C. McGraw. Citizens council slate led by E. E. Allen 340 and others with solid showings. Progressive candidates trailed.
Washington lawmakers plan a June 15 hearing on a bill to amend the Employment Act of 1946. Rep. James Kee seeks to require the Council of Economic Advisors to advise the president on how importing petroleum affects U S employment, with coal regions cited as severely hurt by residual oil imports. Hollins College in Virginia reports Patricia Anne Hoblitzell of Charleston West Virginia earned a bachelor of arts in art.
