In Richmond Virginia a 16 year old, Wayne Phillips, died of a chest wound and 14 year old Felita Gardner was wounded in a hallway shooting sparked by a quarrel over a girl. 18 year old Michael Dance surrendered later charged with murder and felonious assault. A second suspect was at large.
A state official asked Tuesday for three purchasing analysts and three clerks under a 1935 law to improve bid specifications and standard classifications. Arden Hodges and James Boggs appeared before the Senate Finance Committee to justify a 4.4 million departmental budget, including 1.8 million for major repairs and Capitol upgrades.

City detectives said about $2,500 in cash and a large assortment of drugs were stolen from Oakwood Pharmacy at 888 Oakwood Rd. The burglary happened late Sunday or early Monday with two cash registers emptied and the narcotics safe left open or opened by force after breaking in through a rear basement door and an inner door.

In Toronto an AP report states a stripper said a can ring threw a wound that required multiple operations. The compensation board blamed a failed silicone implant meant to enhance her figure.
