Youth 16 Slays 'Sick' Mother Stirs Politics Talk

In Pawtucket Rhode Island on February 17 a 16 year old, Gordon Dukey Harris, confessed to shooting his 44 year old mother Evelyn Harris twice with a 22 caliber pistol as she swept a trailer camp near Narragansett Park. Police say he fled but was captured. He reportedly said she was sick and unhappy and that he loved her.

30 Marines Die in Crash Of Transport

A Marine Corps four engine RD5 transport carrying 38 Marines and crew crashed on a 45 degree slope in Alameda County near Niles Canyon while en route to Alameda Naval Air Station. There were no survivors. Helicopters and ground teams battled wreckage and smoke amid murky weather as rescue workers reached the scene.

State Insurance Commissioner Thomas J. Gillooly said he did not attend the Ferguson for Governor rally at the Daniel Boone Hotel Wednesday night. He testified he was at an insurance meeting in the same hotel from about 5 p.m. to well past 10 p.m. with Charles Lively confirming the account.

Lightning hits Cloverdale home. family escapes with injuries

A four room cinder block house in Cloverdale was struck by lightning early today. Mr and Mrs Pennington and their one month old son woke to a collapsing ceiling in the bedroom and kitchen. Electricians attributed the damage to a TV antenna strike and insurance on the home had lapsed as the Pens planned to sell.
