State Death Toll 25 For Weekend Tragedy in West Virginia

Dynamite Blasts 5 Youths to Bits
Five teen hunters were killed in Waterford New York when 200 pounds of dynamite exploded near a trailer used by a canal contractor. Victims named Frederick Deeb 15 Roger Murray 18 Russell Prescott 14 and Bentley E Fogarty 16 all from Cohoes with a fifth youth unidentified. State police recovered body fragments and clothing over 100 yards from the scene and identified the victims by hunting licenses. Thomas Quigley, a state employee, saw five youths near the dynamite magazine minutes before the blast. The explosion created a four feet deep by 30 feet wide crater in a vacant field and shook homes within twenty miles.
