John Kontar JB of Dunbar Charleston was shot in the back Sunday while suspected of attempting to steal a car. Deputy Byrne said L P Hoffman of Latrobe shot him and Hoffman is free on bond pending a hearing. Rep Rankin will introduce the amendments on opening day of the 1933 session. The plan would cost about 87 00000000 restore free hospitalization for improvident veterans replace compensation terms for service connected death and disability with a wording change and restore World War I death and disability payments to the old basis pay World War I orphans and widows. Other veteran groups back the effort though initial attempts have failed and Legion officials believe asking for less may yield more.
Petersurg, Dec 25. Less than 24 hours after John W. Brodix, 52, was struck and dragged 200 feet on Backbone Mountain near the Maryland line, authorities arrested Frits Anthony Bayard W. Va. Prosecuting Attorney BE Mitchell filed a murder warrant. The case arose after an unidentified driver fled the scene. The prisoner faces a Wednesday hearing.
