Police Recover Stolen Furniture
Charleston police recovered two stolen truckloads of furniture and appliances after thieves looted the Coyle and Richardson warehouse at 510 Broad Street. Eight pieces were found behind a residence at 490 Lentz Street and four on the warehouse lot. A missing 1966 panel truck was later recovered at North Bane and Elk Streets. No forced entry was observed at the building.

Family Kidnaped After Cop Attendant Killed
In Sherman Texas a police sergeant and a gas station worker were shot dead before a young couple and their elder son were kidnapped from their home near the scene. Joseph Robertson and his wife and son were ordered to drive toward Dallas by two youths. One kidnapper fled and the other disappeared on foot near railroad tracks. The bodies of Sgt Don Arnold and Rack Chambers were found by a Sherman policeman.
