The Salvados Army appeals for donations to provide Christmas happiness for about 2,000 area families. A minimum of $30,000 is needed, with donations sent to the Salvation Army Citadel at 301 Tennessee Ave Charleston. Donor names may be published in the Gazette if the coupon is mailed.
Wilson and British leaders discussed Britain's global duties and U S commitments in Southeast Asia. Three people suffered injuries in separate Friday night crashes as cars overturned on WV 4 in Clendenin and US 21 north of Charleston. Huffman 20 and Dye 31, both of Clendenin, treated for abrasions and scalp injuries and released. Fugate 21 of Scruggs Drive had a facial laceration. Others from Nitro and Lewisburg areas were admitted or treated at local hospitals. one victim released after cheek injury.
Three men drew prison terms Friday in Intermediate Court. Claude D. Hudson received the severest sentence five to 12 years after pleading guilty to incest. Larry David Cantrell had probation revoked for breaking and entering and absconding plus bad checks and was sentenced to one to 10 years with Huttonsville prison as a recommended facility. Thomas H. Ross, convicted of attempted rape, drew from one to five years.
Two Kanawha County high school students, Katherine Elizabeth Hager of Stonewall Jackson and Kenneth C. Emberton Jr. of George Washington, won the national English achievement awards. Runners up are Kathleen Swearingen of South Charleston and Debra Jo Thomas of Dunbar.
A Com mon Pleas Court jury returned a verdict for defendant A W Orndorff in the $25,000 damage suit brought by Arnold Mooney of Hugheston claiming injuries including aggravated nervousness and memory loss after a December 1963 rear end collision on U S 60 at Shrewsbury when Mooney stopped to pick up a hitchhiker.
The Children's Theater presented Mr Scrooge with a last minute audience conductor. Mrs Sally Ellis led the orchestra while Drummer Paul Moore Jr. and pianist Richard Silvan eat Mooney faced missteps and gear failures. Robert Weiford stars as Scrooge in a Civic Center Theater run scheduled for today and Sunday.

Mona Jean De Moss 20 of St Marys was killed when the car she rode in collided head on with an oncoming vehicle on West Virginia Route 2 about two miles north of Parkersburg. NASA authorized a six month study to explore radio broadcasting from space inviting private companies to submit views within 45 days. The plan would let one or two contracts cover further research on space radio technology and its implications for international communications.
