In Havana on December 6 portents of unrest persisted as students clashed with police across Havana Matanzas and Cienfuegos. Troops again stood at the National University as government efforts to ease tensions failed several students were injured and multiple arrests ensued with no gunfire reported.

Manning was subpoenaed as a witness for former Denver judge Ben Lindsey who was expelled from the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine after a dispute during an morning service. Witnesses describe Lindsey objecting to Manning’s remarks while Manning defended his criticism of Lindsey.
Thirty students at a mission school in Erode Madras died after drinking soup to which a poisonous lizard had been added. Several others were in critical condition, and the cook also died. Physicians found the lizard in the soup pot. This is a rare deadly incident in a well regarded institution.
The Italian salvage ship Artiglio and crew perish in a deep explosion near the Bay of Biscay while salvaging sunken ships with gold valued at millions. Sixteen dead, seven injured, including Capt Jacques Bertelotti and divers Alberto Gianni and Pietro Prancischi. Authorities suspect a premature detonation amid attempted salvage of the Florence wreck off Belle Isle.
Jobin T. Simms, counsel for the state tax commissioner, was elected president of the Charleton city bar association. He succeeds Frederick L. Thomas on the executive committee alongside Judge C. B. Bohgitt as first vice president and Ernest E. James as second. Other officers include Willem Woodroe treasurer Willem Blue secretary Latelle Lavollette assistant secretary and Harper Mattes Charles Peters Daniel Mohler and Charles Littlepage on the admissions committee. Dr Walter B West of Huntington was chosen president elect of the Hospital Association of West Virginia at its fifth annual semic on. He will serve December 1921. Other officers include Dr J E Golden of Davis Hospital as president, Dr H E Rutherford of Welch as first vice president, Dr H A Haymes of Clarkeburg as second vice president, Dr William A Welton of Parment as trustee, and Joseph W Savage of Charleston as permanent secretary treasurer.
