A tentative state budget totaling 147,493,268 in requests for 1956 57 was turned over to the Board of Public Works. The amount includes 115,056,630 for operating costs and 32,436,638 for capital expenditures. The Legislature must receive the budget within 10 days after it convenes on January 11.
Gov. Marland and lawmakers consider adding to the road revolving fund with up to 4 million in bonding power as a possibly urgent measure. Legislature may also act on education claims and approved House bills left unresolved from the last session.
General Motors announced longer five year sales agreements with dealers after Senate hearings on alleged highhanded practices. Critics warned longer terms may not fix inequities, while GM urged compliance with a suggested reform to ease inter state car theft and dealer pressure.

Burma and Russia issued a joint communique reaffirming support for Red China's claim to Formosa while Khrushchev launched new anti West rhetoric. Khrushchev attacked Churchill and warned of capitalism's end as he spoke at Rangoon University. The visit followed with calls for disarmament and Indochina Korea unification.

Victims are Nancy Wingo 15 Neva June Wingo 8 Marla Wingo 7 and Carolyn and Marilyn Wingo 5. Their mother Ruby Wingo 44 and daughter Agnes 14 were injured. In Oregon at Tigard a young couple Lloyd Trump 17 and Doris Trump 17 and their two months old son Monty Edward died in a separate early morning fire.
