Trenton, Dec 5. Governor Harold Hoffman urged all members of New Jersey’s court of pardons to visit Bruno Richard Hauptmann in his death cell and hear his case. The move follows a secret prior visit by the governor, seen as pivotal as Hauptmann seeks relief from the electric chair. Col. Mark Kimberling described the October 17 visit, noting Hoffman arranged it privately and sought secrecy. The court of pardons remains Hauptmann’s last hope after the U S Supreme Court appeal faltered.
State administrator Witcher McCullough announced yesterday that Kanawha County has 3 141 workers on Works Progress Administration projects. The list shows projects and people at work, including Malden sewers 107 and Charleston area improvements such as Thomas Jefferson school 23 and Pratt sidewalks 29.
Topeka December 5 A Kansas Supreme Court ruling could free Ed Levell and scores of life term inmates under the habitual criminal law patterned after the Baumes act. Levell's attorney Lillie Knight argues the law is unconstitutional as applied and violates national and state constitutions. If the court sides with Levell others fear potential release bids for others convicted as first offenders under the act.
A large section of American industry and the National Association of Manufacturers approved a 1936 platform opposing federal economic and social policies. In Serlin they report Nazi secret police warned opposition Protestant leaders to cease resisting the new church regime or face high treason charges. The meeting with Dr Hans Kertl, Chancellor Hitler’s minister, and Presidents Jacobi and Schardt followed Christ’s Stew. The churchmen reportedly said Christ died for a wrongful treason claim and vowed to follow his path.

The week’s average indicates a 44.21 percent support with partial gains for the administration. California Massachusetts South Dakota voted yes while Kentucky Tennessee and Virginia leaned no.
