Aleck Lawn and Betty Durrels of Louisa, Virginians, were killed today in a Boulder incident in MIETON Aug. F-0, according to early reports.
A candidate report notes a donor contributing 96 750 to the Davis Brown campaign and mentions surveys of support in the Pennsylvania Republican primary. The donor allegedly denied motives tied to state brick contracts or political favors as the race moved toward May.

Chicago August 6 news report on promoter A Pressey's long dance marathon begun April 11. Ann Gerry Mike Goaves Theress Zito Jack Ritott and 16 other couples danced for 3000 hours, collapsing from exhaustion as 8000 spectators watched. Prize money of 3000 to be shared among dancers if they endure.
Charleston and Kanawha valley felt partial relief from Monday s 106 degree heat as a light sprinkle cooled the air at dusk. Additional light showers later in the evening offered some comfort though farming regions remained dry and no significant temperature drop was expected.
The Charleston chamber committee finds past water pollution from sewerage and waste, due to river dumping, worsened by Kanawha and Elk river dynamics. It urges creation of a water supply committee, state supervision, and study of purification methods while noting current water is free of dangerous bacteria though not palatable.
A Poca man was killed in a Grapevine area incident near a mill hill south of Pop Smith's dairy farm. Spencer and Slater, part of a five man party en route to Charleston for electoral work, quarrelled at a filling station, turned violent after exiting, and Spencer allegedly struck Slater with a rock, leading to fatal injuries. Mont Melton and Mont Carnoser reported the event. W. P. Bleck, coroner, to act on the case.
In a race covering Virginia districts early tonight, Joseph T. Deni trailed Bensley for the 1928 Republican nomination in the second district as precincts reported. Deni led Mrs Zersh Lea Fain with 6,342 votes and 1,304 for Fain, while Wilon W. Veilines trailed with 1,841. In the eighth district Judge Haw ent W. Smith led Frank Bull by 4,207 to 2,168 as other candidates including Walton Moors did not seek reelection.
Ben Rosenbloom leads in a tight statewide race as results trickle in from about 1,401 precincts. James Ellwood Jones is narrowly behind with roughly 32000 votes counted, while former governor All White trails by around 7,000. Mason and Shawclote counties show uneven results as officials plan continued tallies.
