Train Kills County Man In Chesapeake Collision

A 69 year old carpenter named George William Burgess was struck and killed by a Chesapeake and Ohio freight train on the main tracks near Adkins Wrecker Service in Chesapeake. He planned to run for mayor this year. Survived by wife Kitty Burgess and nine grandchildren, plus three daughters, a son, four sisters and three brothers. The body lies at Johnson mortuary in Marmet.
