An American pilot Henry Bush and another rescued the son of a wealthy Chinese businessman held by Communist authorities in Hunen Province Red China. Bush described flying into Hunen Province to free the boy, a hostage situation reported by AP Wire.

In Shinnston on April 23 an uninjured boy was struck by an automobile driven by Darnell Rutter 29. Rutter died by suicide less than 30 minutes after the accident, shooting himself in an out-building after rushing from the doctor’s office where the boy was taken and later released to return home. Ronnie Crayton was riding with Rutter and said they took the boy to a physician in an unconscious condition.
A two story house on Beech Street in Welch slid from its foundation during the night and broke apart, pinning four women and a boy. Fire crews freed the victims after an hour. none suffered serious injuries. Owner listed as John Hall, auto dealer. Investigators cited prior collision impacts as a possible factor.
