Burglary Spree Ties Town to Lost Cash and Firearm Suspects

Burglars hit W E Lewis and A Riebel stores Sunday stealing about twelve dollars from a cash register and minor cash from Riebel. They damaged the Lewis register. depots ticket office broken into Tuesday with no theft. Two men Pat Kane and Ed Hanley arrested Monday, linked to Van Wert hardware burglary. Boss took them to Leon for trial. No link established to Chariton robberies.

Horace Larimer Elected President of State Trading Federations

Horace G. Larimer, junior member of Hollinger & Larimer in Chariton, was elected last Friday to lead the Town Association of Trades in Des Moines. The federation unites manufacturers, jobbers, and retailers to boost state business. Larimer also serves as president of the Iowa Retail Clothiers Association, a member group in the new federation.

Must Not Sell Bum Eggs Under State Pure Food Law

A local warning recalls the state pure food law prohibiting sale of bad eggs. Retailers are urged to ensure eggs are fresh and not spoiled or boiled before payment. State food inspector Tate cautioned Chariton retailers to verify eggs prior to passing them to consumers.

Rev N Evans spoke Friday evening at the M EH church on Twenty five Years in the Pacific Northwest. The lecture drew praise as one of the best in Chariton for its interest and instruction. Musical program included Prelude by Mrs C C Mayhew vocal solos by Miss Jessie McIntire Fred Larimer and Dr Walter Anderson. Mr Gross of Chicago closed with a vocal solo.

DeLay Girl Hurt In Press Accident At Work

Miss May DeLay daughter of Mr and Mrs Joe DeLay formerly of Chariton now of St Joseph Mo was injured at a wholesale grocery printing office Thursday when her left hand was caught in a press roller. Skin and flesh were torn but bones are intact she is in Sisters Hospital undergoing treatment to save the hand.

School Fair Awards Highlight County Exhibits

The recent county school fair in the armory showcased a large slate of exhibits from county pupils under Miss Laura Fitch. First prizes went to students over twelve for items including Why I Should Have a Bank Account, best writing, patching, darning, embroidery and bread making with prizes from local banks and businesses. Additional prizes awarded to younger pupils covered similar crafts and foods, reflecting strong student effort though attendance lagged.

Will Boydston Hurt In Colfax Fall From Pole

Will D. Boydston former Chariton superintendent of the Iowa Telephone Company in Colfax was badly hurt when he fell twenty feet from a telephone pole he was repairing. He was found unconscious and has remained so, striking his face and head. He and his wife had moved from Chariton to Colfax, from Roxville where the family had long resided. friends fear for his recovery.

Death of Mrs Anna Lorilla Edson in Charlton

Mrs Anna Lorilla Edson died at her home in southeast Charlton after seven years with consumption. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church, interment in Chariton cemetery. She was born December 17, 1872, married to W L Edson December 9, 1897, and survived by her husband, daughter Francis who died at age two and a half, and her extended family including seven brothers and two sisters from Iowa, Kansas, California, and Council Bluffs.
