From Minneapolis Journal, a vivid recounting of the famous First Minnesota charge led by Col. William Colvill at Gettysburg. The unit, 262 men, faced Confederate lines with bayonets amid devastating fire, 216 fell, 47 remained, Colvill wounded but returning to lead as the regiment secured a critical retreat and saved the Union left wing.
The change allows sending special delivery letters without a special stamp by affixing ten cents worth of stamps and writing special delivery on the envelope. From July 1 1907, mail matter with the extra stamps and words will be treated as if it bore a special delivery stamp.
Deaths from appendicitis supposedly fall as Dr. King’s New Life Pills rise in use. The ad claims pills save from danger and provide painless relief from constipation with strength following use. Guaranteed by Kirk Drug Co. Offer priced at 25 cents. Also an Elba’s Cafe dinner special from noon to 8 pm for 85 cents.
Notice announces the filing of the last will of Benjamin F Dora and a court hearing set for August 27 1907. Clerk Jay F Carpenter and Deputy Anna Hess sign the notice. An unrelated ad promotes Pineules kidney remedy sold by Red Cross Pharmacy with a 30 day 1 dollar offer.
