YATES CENTER The Durand Hotel a two story railroad landmark near the Missouri Pacific yards burned to the ground yesterday afternoon. Firemen stated the basement origin prevented containment as crews watched seventeen plus seven rooms and the lunchroom perish. Mrs Hale Robinson ran the cafe in the hotel which served railroad crews at the switch yard. The structure dated from 1908 the second Durand hotel after the first burned in 1901. Park Pavilion Bonds Sold At Three Percent
The city sold a 35000 bond issue for Central Park pavilion upgrades to two local banks at 3 percent interest. City Manager R J Hayes announced plans to accept bids on the improvements.
