City tackles removal of dead trees in Chanute

The Recreation and Parks Department begins removing all dead trees on public parking and grounds in Chanute. The program is a joint effort with the Street and Electrical Distribution departments. Clem Keller starts on the east end, Al Guiot coordinates, and residents with concerns may call 431-4199 for checks.

City Faces Tight Finances Sanborn outlines cash shortage plan

City Manager Kenneth Sanborn warned that the city's available cash will stay tight for the rest of the year due to a tax lid and limited funds. Crown Sells Drug Store Reopens Under Chanute Carlton Inc

Crown Sells Drug Store re opened its doors under Chanute Carlton Inc which also runs the Ben Franklin store in town. The sale followed a Saturday closing for inventory before the Crown Drug Co disposition. Don Kubler said all employees stay including manager Clarence Carr and pharmacist Danny McCue. The purchasing firm's home office is Bristow Oklahoma and it acquired the Ben Franklin store on June 1 1970.
