Driver Shaken When Car Hit by Train
Robert L. Olberding, 19, of Seneca was shaken but not injured when a switch train struck his eastbound 1955 Ford at the Main Street crossing on Santa Fe tracks about 10 15 last night. Engineer J S Jones, 1318 St. Highland, faced a signal violation citation for disregarding the crossing flagman. S: Flagman Oren Johnson reported Olberding’s car sustained about 400 dollars of right side damage. no railroad car damage occurred.

Grandmother Killed In Rescue Effort At railway crossing
In Jacksonville Illinois a 50 year old grandmother Marjorie E Smith died during a desperate attempt to move her daughter's stalled car from a railroad crossing. Her daughter and granddaughters escaped as she tried to restart the car and jumped clear as the train approached. The collision involved a Wabash Railway passenger train.

Car Hits Cow In Erie Fatal Early Morning Crash
A 1959 Ford station wagon driven by Howard Lee Elliott of Webb City Missouri struck and killed a white face cow on US 59 near Erie at about 7 20 a m. The cow owned by T J LaRue of Erie was valued at 165 dollars. Elliott’s wagon had extensive front end damage but the driver was uninjured.
