State Could Reclaim 100000 Fund For Grasslands Park
Sen Glee Smith says Kansas may recover 100000 from the general revenue fund if the Legislature wants to repurpose it. The money was set aside in 1962 to start Grasslands National Park in Pottawatomie County and reappropriated earlier this year. Approval by Congress was required to spend it, and a U S Senate subcommittee rejected the park proposal. The fund would normally lapse next July, but lawmakers could redirect it due to Senate action.
