In downtown Philadelphia a car stopped by the emergency entrance as a nervous man helped a pregnant woman from the vehicle. She marked the windshield with Delivering Baby and walked inside with her husband.
Edward J. Holland 44 is accused by a September grand jury of bribery extortion blackmail hindering state witnesses perjury conspiracy burglary larceny forgery and other offenses. Assistant District Attorney says conviction could carry 3000 to 4000 years in jail.
In Casterta Italy about 2000 protesters clashed with police for a second day driving fires and transport disruption. The strike affected Casterta’s 39000 residents and halted traffic on the Rome Casterta Naples railway line before rails were reopened under guard.
The Kansas City-St Joseph Catholic Diocese board adopted a resolution urging Missouri lawmakers to grant income tax exemptions for private school families and teachers if tax increases occur. They noted diocesan school enrollment dropped to 15,000 this year from 17,200 last year, citing financial burden of supporting two systems.

Last year they pulled 7 100 pounds to win.
Chanute area residents join the 52nd annual Mex ican Fiesta at Santa Fe Park with Gov. Robert Docking to crown Teresa Ortiz Humboldt as fiesta queen and Chanute mayor Burkman crowning Luci Negrete Parsons fiesta princess. Festivities start at 7 30 each night and include mass, talks, music, and a sidewalk bazaar. Local and Parsons groups perform, vendors offer Mexican foods, and campers from nearby towns are expected. The Chanute Mexican Fiesta Committee, Inc. runs the event with Esther Ortiz as president and a full slate of officers and volunteers assisting albums.
