Authorities report seventeen dead from Arab terrorism and ensuing police action linked to the Munich raid. Eleven Israeli team members perish along with five terrorists and a West German officer. two Israelis also die earlier. Games resume, with Brundage asserting the event must go on.
Israel warned it will hold assisting governments and groups responsible for the Munich Olympic murders and press for expulsion of terrorists. Prime Minister Golda Meir thanked West Germany for efforts to free hostages and supported force against militants.
Mr and Mrs Gary Garrison visiting relatives in town spoke at the Modern Study Club meeting about Middle East tensions.
