North Vietnam says the planned peace accord with the United States collapsed after backing off from prior terms and seeking new negotiations. Saigon reports the pact was not signed and both sides are re negotiating.
President adviser Henry Kissinger said peace is near in Vietnam after nine points were largely agreed. He noted one more negotiating session of three to four days may be needed for a final pact. Hanoi outlined cease fire and coalition government terms, while Saigon officials cautioned on timing and acceptance.
Intercepted correspondence shows a stark exchange condemning rivals as Commies. The text argues for decisive action and portrays hostility toward those deemed opponents. The fragment hints at wartime-era political zeal and personal confrontation.
About 150 officials from 10 counties and 30 cities gathered in Neodesha to hear Ernest Mosher explain the Kansas share of 52.8 million dollars for 1972.
