Three Children Die In Kansas City Fire
A southeast Kansas City blaze trapped three children in their cribs and killed Nome age 4 Paul Jean age 2 and Richard age 2 weeks. Mr and Mrs Lewis and Miss Carol Lathran were severely burned while Mrs Lewis remained in critical condition. The fire started on the back porch and the cause was not immediately determined. Firemen arrived as the house filled with flames and could not reach the children. The three story frame residence was gutted.

Woman Charged In Husband's Death in Lawrence
Mrs Johnnie Ray Washington was to be formally charged for the fatal shooting of her husband George Washington a 44 year old ex convict. Sheriff Dale Chappell said she signed a statement admitting she shot him twice as he lay in bed. She claimed he had been beating her. They married two months ago. Washington was on parole for killing his first wife. His second wife was held for investigation.

Rescue Party Saves Family From Mountain Cabin
