A planned Vanguard rocket test for an earth satellite at the Missile Test Center Cape Canaveral was postponed due to high winds from the Atlantic. Patrick Air Force Base officials said firing likely to occur tomorrow with slim chance of resuming today if winds subside.
Sscores of artillery shells exploded from a burning freight car near Piedmont Alabama as 60 tons of 105mm shells burned. No injuries were reported, about 200 residents evacuated, Ft. McClellan troops patrolled the area, and the Piedmont Atlanta highway was blocked with rail traffic rerouted.
The Agriculture Department said farmers and ranchers borrowed 402 million dollars in the three years ending June 30 to improve soil and water resources. Farmers Home Administration supplied the funds. Much financed farmstead water supplies and irrigation systems.
Oberlin, Kansas resident officials sue Texas Co in Decatur County District Court over salt water pumped from Texas oil wells alleged to contaminate Jennings city water supply. City seeks 14450 to build new water system and 20000 in punitive damages.

Dr William Henry Euler a 64 year old Topeka dentist was shot to death while hunting near Leigh Creek 90 miles southeast of Worland Wy The coroner jury ruled the death accidental caused by gunshot fired after Euler was mistaken for a bear Bozeman Plano Texas a member of the hunting party admitted mistaking Euler for a bear and firing Lohne Euler a Wichita brother of the victim was in the hunting party
Four people en route to Las Vegas for a wedding were killed when their Cessna trainer crashed into China Grade Bluff near Bakersfield California late Saturday night. The victims include Kathleen Moore 19 the bride to be of La Crescenta California Hilding Andrew Linde 22 her fiancé and his parents Hans Lawson Linde 47 and 42 of Bakersfield. Deputy Sheriff Art Cross said the plane apparently broke up in flight and was found partly buried yesterday with the bodies recovered.
Billie Dean Beck of 702 N Forest reported the theft of two car fender skirts from his vehicle parked in front of his home. Clifford Robinson of 702 1/2 S Steuben said someone tried to steal hub caps from his car on Sunday but fled.
Dean Akins of Murray Hill School won the prize for the most unusual pet a raccoon in the Pet and Bicycle Parade sponsored by the Lions Club on Saturday. Prizes across grades ranged from first to third with amounts three two and one dollars.
Three Kansas City men died in a car crash near Leavenworth while two others were injured. Victims were Lester Allen Powell 19 Larry J. Fleming 20 and James E. Dykes 19. Injured were Duane Corkill 22 and Sally Mosher 18. Deputy sheriff Robert Woodson said the car missed a curve on K5 a mile southeast of Leavenworth. Powell's parents live in Cantun Missouri.

Seventeen children and four adults died in six fires across Texas Ohio New Jersey and upstate New York. Fire deaths included the Snider family in Belpre Ohio four children in Amarillo Texas a Newark New Jersey tenement fire a Beach Haven New Jersey home and a Hunter New York bowling alley fire. Authorities cite asphyxiation and burns with several families losing multiple children.
A two car collision on Highway 466 about 26 miles west of Barstow killed three people and injured three others. The deceased were Paul Lewis Gilmore 33 of Kiowa Kansas Hans Wilhelm Hoffman and his wife Dorothea of San Francisco. Survivors include Clyde W. Harvey 35 Janet Irene Harvey 17 and Leta Marie Harvey 28 all from Baron California. The victims were in Gilmore s car.
La Verne Wyer of Liberal was treated in a Wichita hospital Sunday for a black widow spider bite on his right hand. He was released after treatment.
The Queen of Britain received a grand greeting in New York as crowds cheered along boulevards and a ticker tape parade. Elizabeth II and Prince Philip arrived by train at Stapleton and viewed the city from a ferry ride past the Statue of Liberty, with a 21 gun salute marking the moment.
