KP and L to pass gas price hike to customers in Kansas
Kansas Power and Light will pay producers 1.54 per thousand cubic feet for gas previously bought at 0.19, a 705 percent rise. The cost to KP&L will rise about 14.9 million annually, with Wichita already under a 2.03 per thousand cubic feet contract. If approved, rates could rise about 19 cents per thousand cubic feet, adding roughly 2.27 dollars monthly for average homes.
