President Ford signed the Toxic Substances Control Act creating comprehensive pre market review for chemicals. The bill authorizes EPA data requests and post market limits and imposes a two year ban on PCB manufacturing due to health and environmental concerns.

USD 256 superintendent William Muckenthaler said mileage paid to parents who transport kindergarten children will rise from six to 10 cents.
