Veterans Day parade planned in Chanute with Forbes AFB unit

Veterans organizations in Chanute announce a Veterans Day celebration on November 11. Parade starts at 10 30 a m featuring bands floats saddle clubs and commercial units followed by a Forbes Air Force Base marching unit from Topeka performing drills. Railroads seek to discontinue twelve passenger trains

Four railroads led by the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe asked the Interstate Commerce Commission to permit ending by November 10 a dozen passenger trains serving the Middle West. Marin County school board fires teacher for marijuana use

In Nicasio California the School Board unanimously dismissed Garnet E. Brennan a 58 year old longtime teacher for immoral conduct after she admitted smoking marijuana for 18 years. The board cited California law requiring good citizenship and respect for the law. Assistant teacher Jeff Pflugrath was not found to have admitted immoral conduct.
