Humboldt Biblesta Draws 15000 To Eight Annual Parade

An estimated 15000 people lined the 15 block Biblesta route in Humboldt for the eighth annual parade on Saturday afternoon. Thirty three units featured over 20 floats depicting biblical scenes plus three school bands from Royster Junior High Iola High and Erie. The Holy City float won the Grand Trophy and 200 for first place. Traveling Trophy and 100 went to Abraham's Journey of Faith. Other awards honored The Good Samarit an and Jonah and the Whale while several silvers were given as honorable mentions. Dr J D Haggard spoke on Faith in a Scientific Age with judges and narrators named, and the Biblesta committee listed.

Orozco Hurt When Car Is Hit Near Home

Ted Orozco 57 of 1102 S Forest was treated at Neosho Memorial Hospital for a back injury after standing beside his car when a 1960 Pontiac driven by Linda Lopez struck it. Lopez, 22, will be cited for driving without a license. Damages were about 150 each.

Hawley's Arrow Kills Buck Deer

Don Hawley of Chanute Kansas shot a 150 pound buck in the K T bottoms north of the Neosho River near Chanute. The two year old buck dressed at 90 pounds after Hawley and Bill Lesher watched seven deer Friday and Saturday during Kansas first deer season in 60 years.

Chanute Three Day Fall Festival Opens Thursday

Mrs. Dent Injured In Traffic Accident

Mrs. Mary Jo Dent 45 of Walnut R1 was treated at the Erie Clinic for a head cut after her 1963 Chevrolet ran off the road and struck an embankment east of Erie at 9 15 this morning. Damage to the car was about 750 dollars. The wreck occurred 4 ½ miles east of Erie.
