Fire Kills Three At Independence
A fire of undetermined origin destroyed a three-room frame house in Independence killing three children of Willie Robinson. Ethel Beatrice Robinson 3 Charlotte Robinson 2 and Calvin Maurice Robinson 16 months died. Billy 4 was saved by a passerby and Ruth Robinson mother was away at the time. Father and two other children were not home.

Pipeline Worker Fatally Injured Near Independence Kansas
A 10 mile southwest of Independence incident killed A. T. Bealer of Garnett. Bealer, a pipeline construction worker for R. J. Fulton Pipe Line Co., was crushed when a large machine rolled over his left leg. Dr. Robert Woods, coroner, classified death as from shock. The company was laying a 26 inch natural gas line for Cities Service from Blackwell to the Graham pumping station.

Youths Charged In Market Robbery In Wichita
Two 17 year old Wichita youths William Otis Scranton and Donald Ray Foster were charged with first degree robbery in a warrant issued yesterday. They were arrested in Iola Kansas and returned to Wichita. The warrant cites a $156 market robbery and admits additional robberies of a liquor store for $186 and a service station for $50.

Quadruplets Born Die Two in Wake of Birth
In Alma Georgia a 34 year old farm wife gave birth to quadruplets. Two of the four babies died after an all night effort to save them. The Bacon County Hospital administrator said the remaining two were in fair condition at 8 am. The mother Mrs E E Nelson and her husband, a farmer and sawmiller, were not immediately informed.

Head On Collision Fatal to Two Men Near Norton
Two men died in a head on crash on U S 283 about four miles north of Norton in the early hours. Earl Huser 26 a farmer near Norton and Joe Calvert 46 a mechanic who moved from Bayard Neb were killed. Gilbert Courtain Almena escaped with minor injuries. Huser is survived by his widow and two children Calvert by his widow and five children.
