Kansas City AP reports 480 members of Gas Service Workers Local 781 will vote Sunday on ratifying a tentative agreement reached Tuesday with Gas Service Co. The union has been on strike since August 14 in the Kansas City division. District 50 representing 1100 workers across 16 divisions in four states ratified a new contract last week after a three week strike. The Senate sent to President Nixon a bill raising the savings bond rate from 4 1 2 percent to 5 percent. The increase applies to future issues and is retroactive to June 1 for the 2 billion dollars of bonds currently outstanding. The vote was by voice with no debate.
Emery Hicks, 22, a Kansas linebacker and All-America prospect, was arrested in Fort Collins along with two others, Larry Mallin 19 and Gary Levine 19, after a routine traffic stop for investigation of illegal possession of narcotics.

Ralph Caldwell the city housing officer today granted a stay of 30 days in serving condemnation notices for buildings at 1004 and 1008 North Santa Fe owned by Mrs. Marc Barbee. He announced the move at a morning hearing and posted a condemnation notice on the former Fourteenth Street Cafe at 220 West 4th with plans to tear it down within two weeks.
