TOPEKA The 1957 Legislature may revise the spending limit for the Kansas Commission of Revenue and Taxation as the agency nears a projected 3.32 million end-of-year spend, exceeding the 1956 ceiling by 314 816. Gov. Hall favors legislative action while tax officials seek a council approval to raise the limit. Roy N. McCue says an increase would likely halt the proposed allotment system.

A 20 year old Fort Scott youth, Russell Ervin, died at Fort Scott hospital after a hunting trip car crash and accidental gun discharge. In the vehicle were Albert Hawkins 22 Virgil Medler 16 and Christine Finch 16 of Nevada Mo. Medler reportedly handed a .22 caliber pistol to Ervin who pulled it from his hand causing the gun to fire.
