Two Bright Objects Seen in Southwest Sky
Doris Hill of Highland reported observing two bright objects in the southwest sky at two different times. She first saw them Tuesday around 7 p.m. while driving to Erie. they appeared far apart. Last evening she saw them again around 6 p.m. and 7:30, closer together, midway between overhead and the horizon. She is unsure what the objects were and asks if others saw them.

Tony Accardo Receives Six Year Prison Term
Tony Accardo former head of the Capone syndicate was sentenced to six years in federal prison and fined 15000 dollars for income tax evasion by Judge Julius Hoffman. He must also pay court costs. The quail hunting season in 42 eastern Kansas counties ends at 4 p.m. Tuesday November 22 instead of December 10 due to bird scarcity. K96 Stretch At Fredonia Opens South Of Town
A 7.1 mile stretch of K 96 south of Fredonia opened Thursday. The road runs from half a mile south of Fredonia with a 24 foot two lane surface. Contracts totaled 427184.14 with Freete Construction Co Pittsburg handling grading bridge base and surfacing for 416292.04 and Collins Brothers Construction Co Williamsburg handling seeding for 10892.10. Work began in July 1959 and adds roadside feeding and guard rail clean up to be completed while the road is in use.

Five Story Building Collapses in East 34th Street Demolition Area

Eighty three year old Mary Giles was rescued from her fourth floor apartment by Joseph Granahan who carried her to safety as bricks and timbers rained down.
